Telehealth

Create a private space for your online mental health visit

The right setting helps you take part in the conversation. Prepare both your connection and the space around you before the appointment begins.

A quiet corner with a teal armchair and a small side table.

Choose a place where you can talk

Look for a quiet room where you are comfortable speaking and are less likely to be interrupted. Consider whether other people can hear you. Headphones may help with audio privacy, but they do not prevent someone nearby from hearing what you say.

Plan the appointment for a time when you can focus. Do not attend while driving. If you cannot find an appropriate setting, ask the practice about your options before the visit.

Test the essentials

  • Check your device’s camera, microphone, speakers, and internet connection.
  • Charge the device or keep it connected to power.
  • Open the instructions supplied by your appointment platform.
  • Position the camera and lighting so you can communicate comfortably.
  • Keep your questions and medication information within reach.

Have a connection plan

Review any instructions for reconnecting if video stops working, and keep the practice’s appointment contact information available. Use the platform specified in your confirmation; the public website is not the visit room.

If you need an accessibility accommodation or help with the technology, ask in advance. Avoid sending health details through a general website channel simply because a video connection is difficult.

Confirm where you will be

Sheyla’s appointments on this website are for patients physically in Florida. Tell the practice if you will be traveling. Being a Florida resident is not the same as being in Florida for the session.

Telehealth is not an emergency service and is not suitable for every situation. If immediate help is needed, use emergency or crisis services rather than waiting for an appointment.

General educational information, not a diagnosis or personal treatment advice. Care recommendations require an individual assessment.

There is room for you here.

Your questions. Your story. The things that have been hard to put into words. Start with a visit, and talk with Sheyla about what comes next.
